Wet facades
A wet facade, technically known as ETICS (External Thermal Insulation Composite System), is a contact insulation system glued directly to the load-bearing wall.
It consists of thermal insulation boards (EPS polystyrene or mineral wool), a reinforcing layer with a fiberglass mesh, and a final surface finish — silicate, silicone, acrylic or mineral plaster.
It's one of the most widespread and affordable insulation solutions in Slovakia, especially suited to apartment and family houses with flat facade surfaces.

Materials of the ETICS system
What a wet facade is made of — layer by layer.
Thermal insulation (EPS / mineral wool)
The foundation of the whole system, providing the facade's thermal insulation. EPS polystyrene is light and affordable, while mineral wool offers better vapor permeability and fire resistance. We choose the insulation's thickness and type based on a thermal calculation for the specific building.
Adhesive mortar
Bonds the insulation boards to the load-bearing wall and anchors the reinforcing mesh. It must create a firm, even bond without voids that could later cause cracking.
Reinforcing mesh
A fiberglass mesh embedded in the base coat that reinforces the facade and spreads mechanical stress across the surface. It prevents cracks and increases the facade's resistance to impact.
Base coat
A leveling and priming layer that prepares the surface before the final render. It evens out absorbency and ensures better adhesion of the decorative layer.
Decorative render (silicone / silicate / acrylic)
The final surface finish that determines the facade's appearance and lifespan. Silicone render is self-cleaning and algae-resistant, silicate render offers high vapor permeability, and acrylic render provides the widest color range at an affordable price.
Fixings
Plastic dowels with a steel pin that mechanically anchor the insulation to the wall alongside the adhesive. Their number and type depend on the building's height and the wall material.
